Facebook: 8.7 percent are fake users

Last week, during its first quarterly earnings report as a public company, Facebook revealed it had 955 million monthly active users and 543 million monthly active mobile users. In the social-networking giant's 10-Q filing published last night, the company disclosed that nearly 20 percent of the latter number, 102 million users, accessed the social network in June solely from their mobile device.

Google+ trumps Facebook in customer satisfaction

Facebook may be more populous, but Google+ is better-liked.

That's the message from a new set of data released Tuesday by the American Customer Satisfaction Index. Google+, the 1-year-old social network that pundits declared dead last year, ties Wikipedia at the top of the list of social media sites, with a score of 78 out of 100.

Facebook is the least-liked social network on the list, with a score of 61 on the group's ranking of e-businesses.

Yahoo and Facebook have settled their patent row

yahooYahoo had sued the social network in March claiming 10 of its intellectual properties had been infringed.

Facebook subsequently bought 750 patents from IBM and counter-sued. It later bought hundreds more patents from Microsoft to strengthen its defence.

The firms said they would now cross-license innovations from each other and collaborate on future projects.

Social media statistics company known as Socialbakers have recently released a report on the most Socially Devoted countries on Facebook, the report places Kenya at number two on the countries with socially devoted brands on Facebook with 83% response rate while South Africa comes in at a global position of sixth. Kenya and South Africa are the only African countries represented on the top 10 countries. Twitter announces 100 million global users

terTwitter has 100 million active users around the world, the social networking site’s chief executive has announced.

Dick Costolo, speaking at Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, said that more than half of the site’s 100 million active users log in each day. He said that 40 per cent of them simply read the site, without tweeting themselves.
