The 2012 conference heads to Kampala, Uganda between March 21st-24th, where local and international experts will investigate the crucial role that ICTs will play in the continent’s development.
Uganda: Nation Urged to Focus On ICT for Development
Kampala — Uganda has been advised to focus on access to technology while developing policies on Intellectual Property (IP) in order to accelerate its development efforts. The recommendation was made in research findings titled "Harnessing Intellectual Property Rights for Development Objectives: The double role of IPRs in the context of facilitating MDGs Nos. 1and 6" released recently.
The two-year research was conducted by Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (Acode) in partnership with researchers from Tilburg University and Wageningen universities,The Daily Monitor reports.

A group of Ugandan software developers have come up with 11 solutions that are designed to improve the lives of many mobile phone users and businesses. The team of 56 developed mobile applications including; Somesha –a solution that will help disadvantage students to raise school fees, Mobivisa – a solution that can enable mobile users make online payments, Adloc – a location based mobile advertising application and Mafutago, an application that helps one locate the nearest and affordable fuel station in a place.
