Global payments technology firm Visa announced that it has joined forces with Indian telco Bharti Airtel to launch mobile payments services in seven African countries.
The Indian headquartered telco has operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa.
And the seven markets where mobile payments services would be launched are Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles and Tanzania.
According to Visa it plans to build the new service on Airtel’s mobile money platform and allow subscribers to use their Airtel money account to pay in stores and online wherever Visa is accepted.

The Vodafone Foundation has announced the Instant Classroom initiative, a digital ‘school in a box’, which according to Vodafone, can be set up in a matter of minutes.
The initiative is intent on helping pupils in refugee camps as well as offer them the opportunity to continue their education. The Instant Classroom has been designed for areas where electricity and internet connectivity are unreliable or non-existent, and will be deployed in partnership with UNHCR’s Innovation and Education units.

Google today announced a couple of new tools for game developers on its Android platform. These include new analytics to help developers better understand in-game player behavior, as well as a number of new monetization features through its AdMob platform. Google also launched a new game-centric Nearby Connections API for Android TV, its nascent smart TV platform.
